Our Goal

Donate to the Shiawassee Firefighter’s Memorial

Our Goal

We are working towards the goal of raising enough funding to erect a building to house the City of Owosso’s First Motorized Pumper, a 1921 American LaFrance Pumper (shown above) as a monument dedicated to the firefighters of Shiawassee County that have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. This memorial will also serve as a museum celebrating the rich history of firefighting in Shiawassee County.

The Location

The Shiawassee Firefighter Memorial Committee has decided that the Corunna Historical Village is the best option for the memorial. This option would also be contingent on an agreement with the Historical Village Committee.  We will be meeting with the Corunna Historical Society on April 18th  to go over the possibility of placing the memorial in the village.

The Next Step

Once a location is determined, a decision will have to be made as far as what artifacts will be placed and displayed in the memorial. After that is decided, an architect will need to draw up plans for the memorial site. These decisions will all be made by the Memorial Committee, so any public input on any aspect is welcome. Please see our Contact Us page for all contact information.

Other aspects will be discussed on other pages on this web site.
